Craif's first product outside cancer screening uses the same urine sample, laboratory workflow and analysis platform as its miSignal Scan cancer risk test. The underlying aging model was built on 18,698 Japanese samples spanning ages 19 to 98.
TOKYO, September 17, 2026 - Craif Inc., a bio-AI company developing a urine analysis platform for early detection of cancer and other diseases, today began pre-launch sales of miAge in Japan, a test that estimates a person's biological age from a single urine sample. miAge is Craif's first commercial product outside cancer screening, and it uses the same urine sample and the same technology platform as miSignal Scan, the company's cancer risk test. The pre-launch price is 19,800 yen, tax included.
Craif was founded in 2018 and is headquartered in Shinjuku, Tokyo. Its platform, NANO IP (NANO Intelligence Platform), detects microRNA and other biomarkers in urine and other body fluids with high sensitivity.
The aging model behind miAge was developed and validated on a proprietary cohort of 18,698 Japanese samples covering ages 19 to 98. The finding that biological age can be estimated from urinary microRNA has been published, after peer review, in npj Aging, an international journal covering aging and healthy lifespan research. Craif presented the work at the 26th Annual Congress of the Japanese Society of Anti-Aging Medicine in June 2026.
What miAge measures
The user collects a urine sample at home and mails it to Craif's laboratory. Craif's AI reads the microRNA expression patterns in that sample. MicroRNA regulates gene activity, and its expression patterns include signals related to the condition of specific areas of the body, among them the brain, cardiovascular and metabolic systems, the musculoskeletal system, the liver and the kidneys.
From that single sample, miAge reports three things: an estimated biological age, the gap between that estimate and the user's chronological age, which Craif calls ΔAge, and scores for each of the five domains above, so the user can see where aging shows up most in their own profile. Users who test repeatedly can see the pace of their aging plotted over time. The report includes suggested next actions aimed at lifestyle change.
In development and validation, the model estimated age with an R-squared of about 0.90 and a mean absolute error of about 3.2 years against chronological age.
How miAge is sold
miAge goes on sale as a pre-launch offering from September 17, 2026, as an add-on to miSignal Scan. Customers order it through Craif's dedicated site at the same time they order miSignal Scan. Customers who have already taken miSignal Scan can add miAge without providing another urine sample. Craif plans to offer miAge on a standalone basis in the future.
About miSignal Scan
miSignal Scan extracts microRNA from urine and analyzes it with AI to assess the risk of 10 cancer types, including pancreatic cancer, by individual cancer type and from stage 1.
miSignal Scan is not a medical device. It determines risk through statistical calculations based on the information analyzed. It is not a substitute for a medical diagnosis of whether a person has cancer, and a low-risk result does not mean that cancer is absent or that a person will not develop cancer in the future.
About Craif
Craif is a bio-AI company founded in 2018 that develops non-invasive tests for the early detection of cancer. Its platform combines proprietary biomarker detection from urine and other bodily fluids with AI to assess disease risk. Building on one of the world's largest urine datasets, Craif aims to create a urine analysis platform that detects a wide range of diseases early, with cancer as the first step. The company is based in Tokyo and operates a wholly owned laboratory in San Diego, opened in 2026. Learn more atcraif.com.
