Craif Appointed Dr. Satoshi Sohda as Director of Medical Affairs

Craif (Location: Bunkyo-ku, Tokyo, CEO: Ryuichi Onose, hereinafter referred to as “Craif”) is pleased to announce that Dr. Satoshi Sohda, Ph.D., an occupational physician, has been appointed as Director of Medical Affairs at Craif.

■ With this appointment, Craif will accelerate the development of highly accurate cancer test to meet clinical needs
After completing a Ph.D. degree in genetic medicine, Dr. Sohda was dispatched to the Department of Perinatal Genetics at Tufts Medical Center, USA, as an Overseas Researcher Fellow for the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT). Since that, he has been engaged in clinical diagnosis, research, and education  as an obstetrician and gynecologist and occupational physician for more than 30 years. Based on Dr. Sohda’s intensive knowledge and experience in the fields of genetic medicine and obstetrics and gynecology, Craif will accelerate the research and development of highly accurate clinical testing services for gynecological cancer. 

– Comments from Mr. Sohda – 
With my specialty in fetal derived cells and genes in the mother’s blood, I hope to make the best of my knowledge and experience in this area to contribute to Craif’s future growth as a frontrunner in liquid biopsy testing.

Satoshi Soda, Ph.D., Occupational Physician

■ Biography 
Graduated from the School of Medicine, University of Tsukuba in 1988. After obtaining Ph.D. in Medical Genetics at Graduate School of Comprehensive Human Sciences, University of Tsukuba in 1996, he worked as a lecturer at the University of Tsukuba Faculty of Medicine, and was dispatched to the Department of Perinatal Genetics at Tufts Medical Center, USA, as an Overseas Researcher Fellow for the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT). After returning to Japan, he became Director of the Ibaraki Perinatal Center in 2004, and became President of HiROO Medical Corporation in 2012. On the other hand, he holds position as Visiting Professor at Ibaraki Prefectural University of Health Sciences, Lecturer at the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, The Jikei University School of Medicine*, Lecturer at the Graduate School of Comprehensive Human Sciences, University of Tsukuba*, Lecturer at Faculty of Health Sciences Graduate School of Health Sciences, Tokyo Metropolitan University, Lecturer at the Department of Frontier Medical Sciences, Graduate School of Comprehensive Human Sciences, University of Tsukuba*, a councilor at the Japanese Society of Perinatal Mental Health, a member of the Japan Association of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, and a member of Japan Society of Clinical Genetics in Obstetrics and Gynecology. With these positions he initiates education and training for physicians and medical professionals engaged in clinical situations in Japan.
