“Personal Information” means information relating to an individual that can identify the specific individual through name, address, telephone number, email address, institution name, or other descriptions contained therein. Even when information alone cannot identify an individual, if it can be easily combined with other information to identify a specific individual, such information will also be treated as Personal Information.
Categories of Personal Information Collected
- Information provided through inquiries, requests for materials, and job applications
- Information obtained in connection with commissioned clinical testing or research and chemical analysis services
- Information related to the use of products and services provided by the Company
The Company will use Personal Information only for the purposes stated below and will not use it beyond these purposes. However, non-identifiable data extracted from Personal Information may be used for statistical analysis and other purposes
- To provide and operate the Company’s services
- To respond to opinions, inquiries, and confirm information of job applicants
- To perform commissioned work (testing, analysis, reporting, billing, contract fulfillment, etc.)
- To respond to product or service defects and improve quality
- To conduct investigations, recordkeeping, notifications, and reporting as required by law
In principle, the Company will not provide Personal Information to third parties without the consent of the User. Provision will only occur with the User’s consent after specifying the recipient and information to be provided. However, Personal Information may be provided without the User’s consent in the following cases, provided this does not contravene Applicable Laws
- When it is determined that the User may cause disadvantage to a third party
- When necessary to improve public health or promote the sound upbringing of children, and obtaining consent is difficult
- When necessary to cooperate with government agencies, local authorities, or persons entrusted with legal duties, and obtaining consent could hinder execution
- When disclosure is requested by a court, prosecutor’s office, police, or similar authority
- When explicitly requested by the User
- When disclosure/provision is permitted by law
- When provided in connection with business succession due to merger or other reasons, within the original scope of purposes
Only the User may request notification of purpose of use, disclosure, correction, addition, deletion, suspension of use, or suspension of provision to third parties (“Changes”). Contact the Personal Information Manager below. The Company may refuse such requests in cases including:
- Risk of harm to the life, body, property, or rights of User or third party
- When prohibited by Applicable Laws
- When purposes are obvious from acquisition circumstances
- When serious hindrance to business occurs (e.g., excessive cost), with alternative measures taken
Original paper documents used for acquisition are stored for a period and then destroyed; requests for originals are not accepted.
The Company does not, in principle, collect Personal Information containing
- Thoughts, beliefs, or religion
- Race, ethnicity, family origin, registered domicile (excluding prefecture information), disabilities, criminal records, or other discriminatory matters
- Workers’ right to organize, collective bargaining, or other collective actions
- Participation in demonstrations, petition rights, or political rights
However, this does not apply where voluntarily provided by the User.
The Company shall not be liable in the following cases
- When the User voluntarily discloses Personal Information to a third party
- When identification occurs through information entered by the User or others on the Company’s services
- When a third party obtains identification information (IDs, passwords, etc.)
